How to Host a Postcard Party for Medication Abortion

We have everything you need to advocate to protect medication abortion! Medication abortion — safe, effective, and used in over 63% of abortion care — is under coordinated attack by those seeking to ban abortion entirely, and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is poised to roll back approval of mifepristone, which would devastate access to medication abortion.

Grab a postcard advocacy kit to help flood HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. with postcards and reaffirm that medication abortion is safe, effective, and widely-used!

Here’s your five step guide to hosting a postcard party to protect medication abortion.

Step 1: Get your postcards

Postcard are pretty crucial for a postcard party. Get your postcards here! Your kit will arrive by mail and includes a printed copy of our resource guide with everything you need to host your event — from where to send the postcards to suggested messaging and talking points.

We also recommend downloading a digital copy ahead of time so you can prepare in advance and print additional copies to have on hand during your event. Beyond the postcard kit itself, the only supplies you'll need are pens and regular Forever stamps.

Step 2: Plan your event

Start with the basics: Where will you host it? When will it be? Who will you invite? To help, we've created a simple step-by-step planning guide to help you think through every aspect of the event! The guide is built as a form, so once you submit it, NCJW can reach out with planning support, answer questions, and help set you up for a successful event.

Step 3: Invite your people

Your postcard party can look however you want — from five friends in your living room to dozens of people at your synagogue! But whatever your event looks like, you'll want to know who's coming. You can use this Google form to keep track of RSVPs. Once that's set up, we've made it quick and easy to invite people by email or text using the resources below.

Step 4: Host your party

Once you've got the who, what, and when sorted, it's time to party! Grab your postcards, gather your guests, and get writing. Be sure to take lots of photos of your event, your friends, and your finished postcards — we'd love to see your advocacy in action! Share them with us so we can celebrate your leadership and inspire others to host postcard parties of their own.

If you post on social media, make sure to tag us! You can find us on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Bluesky, and Threads!

Step 5: Tell us how it went!

We want to hear all about it! Tell us what worked and what didn’t, what got you excited, and everything else by sending us an email!
